January/February/March: Your apple trees are being pruned and prepared to handle your delicious crisp apples. If you are one of the lucky ones, you have some Honeycrisp in your refrigerator from last fall.
April: We are just as anxious to get into the orchard as you are to be outside. So we enjoy the early spring weather picking up prunings and recycle them through a wood chipper.
May: With April showers come May flowers. The apple flowers bloom and nature pollinates the fruit. The more seeds an apple has the larger the fruit
June: Your apples are multiplying cells and developing next years blossoms. You should place your coddling moth traps and lures in your trees. They should be replaced every 2-3 weeks depending on the lures.
July: The apples are soaking in the sunshine and growing with a slight blush. Your apple maggot lures and traps should be hung out and don’t forget to replace your coddling moth lures.
August: Early apples will be at your farmers markets. The good crisp fall apples are just a month away. Remember to check and replace your insect traps
September: Yes the Honeycrisp, SweeTango are being harvested and will be available at your grocery store and our outlet store. Remember, they were developed in Minnesota on Minnesota soil and the Minnesota Honeycrisp and SweeTango are “THE BEST”!
October: Your late fall apples such as Haralson, Connel Reds and Empires are here. Stock up on all of your apples for the winter. Honeycrisp store well into the spring, if your supply lasts that long.
November: Enjoy some hot apple cider or a piece of fresh apple pies made from the best apples – Minnesota Grown Apples :-).
